AfriMAP and the Open Society Foundations

AfriMAP was established in 2004 as a project of the Open Society Foundations in Africa.

The Open Society Foundations work to build vibrant and tolerant democracies whose governments are accountable to their citizens. Working with local communities in more than 70 countries, the Open Society Foundations support justice and human rights, freedom of expression, and access to public health and education. In Africa the Open Society Foundations include the Open Society Foundation for South Africa, the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA), the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) and the Open Society Initiative for East Africa (OSIEA). AfriMAP is based at the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) in Johannesburg, South Africa.
