On 13 August AfriMAP and OSISA in collaboration with Mozambican civil society organization-Centre of Studies in Democracy and Development – CEDE, launched a report on democracy and political participation. The report, which involved the participation of policy and law makers, civil society, politicians and academics, focused on challenges of democratization, rights of citizenship, elections, political parties and participation, media and civil society, local government and development aid. It also gave concrete recommendations for each area. Advocacy work has started for adoption of the report’s recommendations by the Mozambican government, so as to better deliver on polices of poverty reduction strategies, corruption, gender promotion and greater political pluralism through civic education in a wider and broader context, thus opening the political space.
