Mr. Busia is a national of both Ghana and USA. He works for the Economic commission for Africa (ECA) as Chief of the Africa Peer Review Mechanism Support Section, Governance and Public Administration Division. He has had a decade and half’s experience in international development at both the bilateral as well as multilateral level. Assignments have taken him to countries in and out of the African continent, including the Middle East, Europe, and Asia and the United States. Prior to his work with the ECA, Mr. Busia worked as a Foreign Service Officer at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) where he rose to the level of Team Leader under that organization’s Democratic Governance Programme. Mr. Busia obtained his PhD. from the Cornell University, U.S.A., where he focused on international development policy. His has a Masters Degree in Political Science and African Studies, and Bachelors in International Relations. He was a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for African Development (IAD) in Cornell University in 2009, as well as a Fellow at the Aspen Institute under the International Advancement Fellowship Program. Mr. Busia is also a recipient of the USAID Meritorious (Global) Service Award. He has authored several papers and reports on democratization and governance systems in Africa, aid and development policy, human rights and institutional capacity building.
